about

move

It is the first week of Fall in September 2013. I've been actively making music since 2007 with no real breaks in between doing so and having released multiple albums and EPs over these 6 years. I'll admit I have gotten better overtime, and that I have certainly crashed and burned my whole way through learning production independently and with no formal instruction. I have had the opportunity to meet people from all over the world, both in person and online through the pursuit of music. It has been a beautiful journey, that I have become both enthusiastic and equally stressed out from.

Move is a song about my recent relocation to Austin Texas in April 2013. I have been thinking about writing and releasing this song for months since the move. I drove out to Austin Texas in my big scary white van all by myself. I had never taken such a long road trip, especially not by myself. I managed to make it to Austin just fine and after some aggressive searching through craigslist and career builder I have been able to start settling in, in my new city. I have had the chance to play some of the open mic circuit here in Austin, gaining favorable loud applause and reception from a totally neutral audience that had no idea I existed. Winning over their participation in songs like "Kitty Kat Swag", I feel I have the ability to appeal to a larger audience and still keep my artistic integrity in tact. While this is certainly a challenge, I hope to at least at this point inspire people my own special way. I cannot guarantee myself I am going to amass those thousands of followers I dream about, all I can do is focus on is the integrity of my work on its own and make music that isn't disposable or that chases after the current trends in popular music so aggressively. That is what "Move!" is about, it's my first time releasing a single by itself and promoting it without an album to accompany it. When I produced the instrumental for this, I knew I had to do something with it. This is what came out of it, in my state of mind and after listening to a lot of KyaryPamyuPamyu, M83, and The Postal Service.

I plan on taking that break on music for a little bit at least to at the minimum give me a healthy break from being so stressed out about trying to become a successful artist. I also need to work on getting myself back in the right state of mind/form both personally and financially. Don't judge me by my weight, all that weight goes heavy into making the most swagged out music a future legend like Chris Big Money just does out of habit. The depression is real (yes I exp depression over my music and life in general, generally I carry myself well in public idk), and I hope to inspire those 9-5ers by day, party music producers by night in this double life struggle we live daily. Let our co workers feel our pain! Feels.

now for the lyrics:

I wanna move away to a far away land
A far away land where I don't know anyone
I don't know anyone I really shouldn't know
I really shouldn't know, I really shouldn't go
But I have to go, someone please tell me so
give me validation because i wanna to know
i have to know the truth i wanna find my youth
i have nothing to lose, i gotta read the news, move

move! (x4)

take me far away take me really far away
my days are all the same i probably shouldn't stay
nowhere left to play my heart is darkened grey
i wanna find my way, a thousand miles away (x2)

I wanna find my home, I feel it in my bones
I'm really sick and tired I wanna be alone
My life is overrun a million double clicks a day
The world will move on, my friends will go away
On the internet, it doesn't matter anyway
I try to make some new friends, they all left me astray
I'm feeling real ignored, i'm feeling really bored
you chose someone else and i gotta reach the door, move

move! (x4)

take me far away take me really far away
my days are all the same i probably shouldn't stay
nowhere left to play my heart is darkened grey
i wanna find my way, a thousand miles away (x2)

A friend told me when I finally got away
a part of him left a part of him changed
A part of him stayed, A part of me changed
I felt rearranged, I felt well estranged
A part of you lives, A part of you dies
I've felt all the lies, I severed my ties
I finally realized you live when you try
you live when you try you live when you try

The day when I left people applauded away
I wasn't surprised, I wasn't surprised
I finally realized you live when you try
you live when you try you live when you try (x2)
